With the cruising season now well underway we are pleased to report that readers have been out and about cruising in Holland and have started spotting corrections and updates which can valuably add to the book. These have been posted on the updates page of the site and more comments are very much welcomed.
Stock of the first edition of 'Inland Waterways of the Netherlands' is now available and can be bought via Imray, the CA or direct from the authors. Due to the cost of postage, we have had to add a post and package charge to our online order form, for those who wish to have their book posted.
Following our talk at the Cruising Association on the 4th October, we were pleased to receive interest for advanced orders of the 'Inland Waterways of the Netherlands' and have now made our order form available online. If you would like your book signed by the authors, the form has a space for you to add any names or dedications which you would like included. Forms can be posted or presented in person to the authors. CA members may alternatively order through the CA/Imray discount scheme, and orders can also be placed directly with Imray.
We are pleased to confirm that printing is now underway and we expect supplies of the Inland Waterways of the Netherlands by mid-November. In the meantime, orders can be taken on www.imray.com or by the authors.
To coincide with the launch of the Inland Waterways of the Netherlands authors Louise Busby and David Broad will be presenting a series of talks promoting cruising in the Netherlands. These will focus on some of the less well-known venues and will include possibilities for mast-up cruising which are not documented in other guides. For those with more modest air draught, there are a host of new opportunities to explore, many of which are easily accessible in a cruising holiday from the UK. These talks, which are at the invitation of the Cruising Association, are open to members and non-members, and will be held on the following dates:
Thursday 4th October at CA House, Limehouse, London
Saturday 10th November at CA Essex section, Marconi Athletic & Social Club, Chelmsford
Saturday 23rd February at CA Suffolk section, Royal Harwich Yacht Club, Woolverstone
The September 2007 edition of Motor Boats Monthly includes an insiders guide to cruising in the Netherlands and highlights some of the venues to be featured in the forthcoming Inland Waterways of the Netherlands. Looking beyond the popular Zeeland ports, Louise gives alternative suggestions to bear in mind on a visit to Amsterdam, as well as featuring Alkmaar, Hattem and Giethoorn as attractive venues which are worth a visit.
